Lapsang Souchong originated from the Wuyi region of the Fujian Province. Lapsang tea leaves are traditionally smoke-dried over pinewood fires, which creates a distinctive, smoky flavor. The story goes that the tea was created when armies, during the Qing dynasty, were delayed passage. Eager to satisfy the army, the tea garden owners increased the drying process by drying the tea leaves over pinewood fire. It's smoky flavor soon became a favorite. Lapsang is a set apart tea - so unique from any tea you may be familiar with!
