Create. Foster. Promote.

“Today, millions of lives around the world are in the grip of injustice. More children, women and men are held in slavery right now than over the course of the entire trans-Atlantic slave trade: Millions toil in bondage, their work and even their bodies the property of an owner. Trafficking humans generates profits in excess of 32 billion dollars a year for those who, by force and deception, sell human lives into slavery and sexual bondage…” (IJM)

Each year, nearly 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade (UNICEF).

27 million men, women, and children are held as slaves (Kevin Bales, Disposable People).

1 in 5 women is a victim of rape or attempted rape in her lifetime (U.N. Development Fund for Women).

These statistics may startle you, but modern-day slavery is a real issue that is rampant both abroad and here in the US.  International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org) is a human rights agency that has been bringing rescue to victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression for the last 15 years. IJM lawyers, investigators, and aftercare professionals work with local officials to secure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators, and to ensure that public justice systems, police, courts and laws effectively protect the poor.

We at K’Tizo Tea want to raise awareness and work with those who are bringing relief and hope to the millions of enslaved both around the world and around the corner.  In keeping with our desire to help people discover ‘new creations,’ when you purchase products from K’Tizo Tea, part of our proceeds go to International Justice Mission because they are committed to creating a better world by being a voice (and often the physical rescue) for those who are opposed and cannot speak for themselves.  Each of us can help to create, foster, and promote a better world by giving back.  We encourage you to explore IJM’s website and discover for yourself ways you too may become part of the solution.
